arthritis therapy.
The following is a list of herbs used for treating
arthritis.
- Turmeric
- Cayenne
- Bromelain
- Wood Spider
- Ginger
- Boswellia
- White Willow Bark
- Devil's Claw
- Eeuthero (Eleutherococcus senticosus)
- Evening primrose oil (Oenathera biennis)
- Fever Few (Tanacetum parthenium)
- Flaxseed oil (Linum usitatissimum)
You can make your own mixture for arthritic remedies at home
with herbs such as mullein, slippery elm bark, lobelia, and cayenne
poultice.
Ingredients
- 2 tbsp. mullein
- 3 tbsp. granulated slippery elm bark
- 1 tbsp. lobelia
- 1 tsp. cayenne
Instruction
Mix the above ingredients thoroughly in a bowl. Then pour some
boiling water into the bowl until the concoction become sticky.
Spread the mixture on a piece of cloth. Let it cool down for a
while before laying the cloth on the swollen joints.
If you want to take the herbs orally, you can make your own
herbal drink by mixing black cohosh, gentian root, angelica,
Colombo, skullcap, valerian, buckthorn bark, and rue. Add a
teaspoon of the concoction into a cup of boiling water. Let it
infuse for a while before you drink it. You should drink no more
than three ½ cups a day.
You can use wild cherry roots, burdock roots, Oregon grape
roots. Clean three roots of each herb. Slice them into tiny pieces.
Then put them in a gallon of water and let the mixture simmers for
30 minutes. Then, strain the solution into a container. Dink half a
glass every morning before breakfast.
You can also apply herbs topically. Once you apply the herbs on
your skin, the active ingredients will be absorbed into the blood
stream. The common herb used in arthritis treatment is capsaicin,
which is abundant in red peppers. Capsaicin helps to relieve
arthritis pain by acting on the pain and inflammation. You can buy
capsaicin cream from the drug stores.
Nettle is another herb that you can apply on the affected
joints. The extraction from the leaves of the plant contains active
ingredients. Researchers think that they soothe the arthritis pain
by intercepting the pain sensors.
