Hormones help to maintain calcium balance in your body. When the balance is disturbed, bones and joints become porous. This can also lead to wear and tear. Your body will try to restore the balance by supplying more calcium to the affected bones and joints.

However, when your body delivers the calcium to the wrong area, it can cause abnormal bone formation at the damaged surface of a joint. This is known as arthritic spurs. Therefore, this arthritic condition is not due to the lack of calcium but a calcium imbalance in your system.
